If u give magnussen a penalty for cutting the chicane, regardless of the cause, then you need to give hamilton one as well, as he cut the chicane (even more than magnussen). Obviously max needed to get a penalty for causing a collision, even a max fan would agree, that corner was never his and it probably wasnt even an opportunity to overtake. In addition max probably should have gotten a penalty for cutting the chicane, however he did not gain an advantage, which magnussen and hamilton did. Solution: dont give a penalty to magnussen because he was forced of track and didnt gain all that much advatage. Give hamilton a penalty for literally giving up on even making it round the corner and thus gaining a huge advatage, give verstappen a penalty for causing a colision but for not cutting the chicane because he didnt gain an advatage and, with the collision, probably coundnt have made it anyway.

I can only say, that F1 never needed those rule changes in my opinion, at least. Besides they keep adding new, unwanted aspects and take away loved and needed features. (or think about it)Yes they wan't to save money and be more sustainable. On the other hand, they keep building new tracks - and correct me if im wrong, but this isn't naturally too eniromentally friendly. Last but not least, it's supposed to be the pinnacle of motorsport and I really have to say, they're losing that place.

Hamilton released the brakes as soon as he saw Max coming in his mirrors and would never have made the corner at that point. Basically should have been deemed illegal defense as it is simply cutting the corner to avoid being overtaken. Very reminiscent of Abu Dhabi´s 2021 first lap.

They were not side by side because of the mere fact that Hamilton outbraked himself. He already had premeditated that Verstappen was not going to overtake him, and if he tried he would just close the door and/or cut the corner as if he got pushed. He opened the door the overtake was clear and clean and Hamilton, again spoilt by the FIA, can defend in anyway possible. This was seen as well with Ricciardo right after Nouvelle Chicane where Hamilton closed the door again pushing Ricciardo into a wall and not receiving a penalty. Its always Lewis Hamilton who is saved from all sanctions and reprimands and this is a fact.
